It can feel like a big deal to get professional photos taken. I get it—I’ve shopped around and bookmarked professional photographers, too, and then taken a deep breath and reached out to say, “Hey, I’d love for you to take some photos.” And I’ve consequently been a photo subject in front of a camera and been like, “What do I do with my hands again?!” and “Is my face doing something weird??” (Sometimes it was, but that’s what editing is for.) Most people, myself included, don’t have a ton of experience IN FRONT of a camera, even if they have some experience behind one.

That’s why I try my very best to make this whole process as fun and natural as possible for each person I photograph. Even if the photos themselves are deadly serious—say, a Blue Steel look for some professional headshots—a good photo session can be a novel, irreverent, meaningful, and beauty-affirming experience. And investing in professional photos is a way of saying that these moments in your life—or in the life of your family, your partnership, your work, or your craft—are worth documenting and remembering.

But all of that is only true if you click with the person taking your photos. So here’s a little about me and why I do what I do:

I absolutely love photographing people doing things they love, whether that’s hanging with their families or dressing up like a giant hot dog and singing ballads at a variety show. (True story.) Or getting married to their best friend. Or organizing a retreat. People in their element, engaged with their world, making something new—that makes my world go round. So if you’d like images that showcase your joy, or if you need images that help you in your mission, then I’d love to chat.

Thanks for reading all of that. Below you’ll find more information about the kinds of photography sessions I offer—or you can just email me and we can grab some coffee to talk about what you’re looking for.

First birthdays. Baby bellies. An heirloom engagement ring. A family beach vacation. Wherever you are in your life at this moment, let’s make photos that help you celebrate and cherish these important times. (Especially because, even on a good day, it’s tough to get a selfie that really tells a story.)

Family and maternity sessions begin at $550.

“A portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it.” —Edward Steichen

I believe everyone deserves to have at least ONE image of themselves that they love. An intimate portrait in a quiet moment. A photograph of you doing something that makes you feel alive. An all-purpose professional headshot—because who doesn’t need one of those? An online dating photo that’s flattering and relaxed. I only ever use natural light, on location. Let’s work together to make photos of you that you love.

Portrait sessions begin at $550, and headshot sessions begin at $350.

I consider it a true privilege to photograph people’s biggest days. As a documentary wedding photographer, I thrive off of documenting the spontaneous, goofy, and genuine moments as they unfold, and my goal is to make it not just not stressful, but fun for you to have me in the mix. Because hopefully, if I’m photographing your wedding, we really get a kick out of each other. I’ll shoot any kind of wedding you can throw at me—a huge banquet wedding, a small and intimate wedding, a wedding involving the groom riding into a hotel on a horse, a wedding that’s just immediate family around a good meal. Are you having a three-day campground wedding with sack races the day before your nuptials? Yep, I want to take photos for three days. Are you eloping in Yosemite, just the two of you, your dog, and your best friend as officiant?… and then climbing Half Dome afterward? I’m there.

Wedding packages begin at $3,000 for a full day of coverage, and $2,000 for half-day coverage and elopements.

A “Day in the Life” session is a photojournalism-style documentation of your family's life for one whole day, from the time you wake up until the time you go to bed. Think of it as having your own personal family photographer for an entire day. Why an entire day? Because I believe wholeheartedly that the story of a family's everyday life is worth documenting. As parents or guardians, we often have so few candid photos that have ourselves in them, photos that really show the intimacy and small daily moments of parenting and partnership. And those are the photos we stand to hold most dear—the ones that reflect that these days with our kids are glorious and exhausting, that they bring out our best, happiest, messiest selves.
